Martin Brower Work Comp Claims

Martin Brower is a major logistics and supply chain company that transports food and restaurant supplies for some of the biggest names in the food industry. It was founded in the 1930s and is based in Rosemont, Illinois. It is best known for delivering millions of cases of products every year to restaurants including McDonald’s, and in certain markets, Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, and Panera Bread.

Employees at Martin Brower facilities in Illinois may work in a variety of roles. Many are warehouse workers who help receive, sort, and prepare shipments for delivery. Others operate forklifts, drive delivery trucks, manage inventory, or work as supervisors or support staff.

The work environment is fast-paced and often physically intense. Lifting, moving pallets, loading trucks, operating heavy equipment, and performing repetitive tasks are all part of daily operations at distribution centers.

Because a distribution facility involves heavy equipment, moving products, and physical labor, there are several ways employees can be injured on the job:

  • Strains and sprains:  Repetitive lifting, twisting, and moving heavy products can put workers at risk for back, neck, shoulder, arm and wrist injuries.
  • Slip and fall injuries:  Warehouses and loading docks are often busy areas where spills, debris, and changes in the floor surface can lead to falls.
  • Equipment-related accidents:  Operating or working near forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial equipment can result in crushing injuries, cuts, or fractures.
  • Motor vehicle accidents — Drivers handling deliveries can be injured in roadway collisions or while loading and unloading trucks.

The type of injury, severity of injury, and the circumstances of how it happened will vary from person to person, of course. However, all Martin Brower employees who are hurt on the job should do the following:

  1. Report the injury to your supervisor or employer right away.
  2. Go the ER or urgent care or see your doctor, and follow the treatment plan they recommend.
  3. Keep records of all your medical visits, diagnoses, and work restrictions.
  4. Consider hiring an experienced workers comp lawyer who will file a workers’ compensation claim on your behalf and then work to get you the benefits you deserve (for example, paid medical care, wage replacement, permanent disability).

This last step is a crucial one. Neither Martin Brower nor their insurance company is putting your best interests first, unfortunately. They might question whether your accident was work-related, or they might argue against you receiving full benefits. An Illinois work comp attorney will put you first, and it costs nothing to hire one. They only get paid a percentage of the settlement they get for you.

Martin Brower uses a company called Sedgwick to handle their claims. Even when it appears that the insurance company is doing the right thing, they are known for trying to cut off your benefits. Some ways they do this include trying to get access to all of your medical records (they aren’t allowed to do that), having a nurse case manager talk to your doctor (that is illegal) or sending you to a hired gun IME who will say what they want even if it doesn’t make sense and goes against your doctor who knows your injury much better.

We can help connect you with a workers’ compensation attorney who has a strong track record representing Martin Brower employees and other workers in distribution or warehouse roles. The attorneys we recommend understand the common injury patterns and benefit issues that come up in these cases. They have a track record of winning cases. We get great feedback on them. Contact us at 312-346-5320 for a completely free and confidential discussion with a lawyer. We promise to give you the same advice we would give to a family member or friend and do whatever we can to protect you.

What Clients Are Saying

"Highly recommend"

I was skeptical, but the attorney you recommended was so nice and was everything you said he’d be and more. Thank you so much. I would recommend this site to anyone.

"They were great"

The workers’ compensation law firm you referred my friend to has been great. They really stopped jerking him around once he hired the attorney you suggested.
